Aisha
‘Ā’ishah bint Abī Bakr (613/614 – 678 CE;Arabic: عائشة transliteration: ‘Ā’ishah [ʕaːʔiʃa], also transcribed as A'ishah, Aisyah, Ayesha, A'isha, Aishat, Aishah, or Aisha /ˈɑːiːˌʃɑː/) was one of Muhammad's wives. In Islamic writings, her name is thus often prefixed by the title "Mother of the Believers" (Arabic: أمّ المؤمنين umm al-mu'minīn), per the description of Muhammad's wives in the Qur'an.
Aisha had an important role in early Islamic history, both during Muhammad's life and after his death. In Sunni tradition, Aisha is thought to be scholarly and inquisitive. She contributed to the spread of Muhammad's message and served the Muslim community for 44 years after his death. She is also known for narrating 2210 hadiths, not just on matters related to the Prophet's private life, but also on topics such as inheritance, pilgrimage, and eschatology. Her intellect and knowledge in various subjects, including poetry and medicine, were highly praised by early luminaries such as al-Zuhri and her student Urwa ibn al-Zubayr.

Transliteration
Transliteration is the conversion of a text from one script to another.
For instance, a Latin transliteration of the Greek phrase "Ελληνική Δημοκρατία", usually translated as 'Hellenic Republic', is "Ellēnikḗ Dēmokratía".
Transliteration is not concerned with representing the sounds of the original, only the characters, ideally accurately and unambiguously. Thus, in the above example, λλ is transliterated as 'll', but pronounced /l/; Δ is transliterated as 'D', but pronounced 'ð'; and η is transliterated as 'ē', though it is pronounced /i/ (exactly like ι) and is not long.
Conversely, transcription notes the sounds but not necessarily the spelling. So "Ελληνική Δημοκρατία" could be transcribed as "elinikí ðimokratía", which does not specify which of the /i/ sounds are written as η and which as ι.
Definitions
Systematic transliteration is a mapping from one system of writing into another, typically grapheme to grapheme. Most transliteration systems are one-to-one, so a reader who knows the system can reconstruct the original spelling.

List of Mobile Suit Gundam SEED characters
This is a list of fictional characters featured in the Cosmic Era (CE) timeline of the Gundam anime metaseries. These characters appear in the Mobile Suit Gundam SEED and Mobile Suit Gundam SEED Destiny anime television series, as well as in the manga and OVA spinoffs. Both series focus on the raging conflict between Naturals and Coordinators, the former being regular humans and the latter being genetically-enhanced ones.
Mobile Suit Gundam SEED begins when the neutral space colony Heliopolis is attacked by ZAFT, a military organization composed of Coordinators. Coordinator Kira Yamato pilots the mobile suit GAT-X105 Strike to protect his friends on the Naturals' ship Archangel from potential enemies as they head towards Earth. Mobile Suit Gundam SEED Destiny continues two years after Mobile Suit Gundam SEED and follows the teenager Shinn Asuka and his duties in ZAFT.

Kira Yamato (キラ・ヤマト) is a first-generation Coordinator, who lives on the neutral space colony Heliopolis to avoid war between the races of Coordinators and the Naturals, but such area ends involved in the war. Born as a Coordinator, Kira is the only person able to pilot the Strike mobile suit created by the Naturals, and is forced to pilot it into numerous battles to protect his friends. He is voiced in the Japanese series by Sōichirō Hoshi and in the English adaptation by Matt Hill.

Aisha Ahmad is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Political Science at the University of Toronto, and the Director of the Islam and Politics Initiative and a Senior Researcher at the Global Justice Lab at the Munk School of Global Affairs. She has conducted extensive fieldwork on conflict dynamics in Afghanistan, Pakistan, Somalia, Kenya, Lebanon, and Mali. Her forthcoming book with Oxford University Press, titled "Jihad & Co.: Black Markets and Islamist Power" explores the economic drivers of these complex security crises.

While government officials and military forces are focusing on strategies to regain control of territory, an underground economy has emerged and it is helping finance and empower terrorists.
Local businesses and elites, worried about plunging profits during war, have partnered with terrorist groups to secure the safe passage and sale of products. ISIS in particular has benefited from this relationship, but other terrorist groups are finding financial support by selling antiquities and Ottoman artifacts at soaring prices. How profitable and extensive is this black market? As we see terrorist groups defeated and removed from their areas of operation, what is the possibility groups like ISIS will remain powerful as a result of financial gains?
In her new book, "Jihad & Co.: Black Markets and Islamic Power," Aisha Ahmad, assistant professor of political science at the University of Toronto and Director of Islam and Global Affairs at the Munk School of Global Affairs, will provide insight into the jihadist black market economy.

Aisha Ahmad is an Assistant Professor in Political Science at the University of Toronto. She is also the Chief Operating Officer of the Dr. Hawa Abdi Foundation, and internationally renowned non-governmental organization that provides emergency relief in Somalia. Aisha recently completed her PhD at McGill University, and was a former research Fellow in the International Security Program and Initiative on Religion in International Affairs at the Belfer Centre for Science and International Affairs at the Harvard Kennedy School. Her work explores the political economy of state failure and state formation in the Muslim world, with a particular focus on the local business community in failed states. Aisha has conducted extensive field research in Afghanistan, Pakistan, Kenya and Somalia over the course of several years.

Looking at the headlines from Aleppo to Jubba, it might seem as though our world is falling apart. As a security specialist, I’ve travelled to some of the most war-torn countries on the globe. But far from being a cynic, however, I believe we are living in an unprecedented golden age of human freedom. Our modern international order is a strikingly new phenomenon that has built a more peaceful and just world than ever before. This is an epic moment in the long history of our human species. But it now hangs in the balance. As our international system heads into an era of uncertainty, will our hard-won freedoms survive? What is the price we must pay for a more just world?
Aisha Ahmad is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Political Science at the University of Toronto, and the Director of the Islam and Politics Initiative and a Senior Researcher at the Global Justice Lab at the Munk School of Global Affairs. She has conducted extensive fieldwork on conflict dynamics in Afghanistan, Pakistan, Somalia, Kenya, Lebanon, and Mali. Her forthcoming book with Oxford University Press, titled "Jihad & Co.: Black Markets and Islamist Power" explores the economic drivers of these complex security crises.

‘Ā’ishah bint Abī Bakr (613/614 – 678 CE;Arabic: عائشة transliteration: ‘Ā’ishah [ʕaːʔiʃa], also transcribed as A'ishah, Aisyah, Ayesha, A'isha, Aishat, Aishah, or Aisha /ˈɑːiːˌʃɑː/) was one of Muhammad's wives. In Islamic writings, her name is thus often prefixed by the title "Mother of the Believers" (Arabic: أمّ المؤمنين umm al-mu'minīn), per the description of Muhammad's wives in the Qur'an.
Aisha had an important role in early Islamic history, both during Muhammad's life and after his death. In Sunni tradition, Aisha is thought to be scholarly and inquisitive. She contributed to the spread of Muhammad's message and served the Muslim community for 44 years after his death. She is also known for narrating 2210 hadiths, not just on matters related to the Prophet's private life, but also on topics such as inheritance, pilgrimage, and eschatology. Her intellect and knowledge in various subjects, including poetry and medicine, were highly praised by early luminaries such as al-Zuhri and her student Urwa ibn al-Zubayr.
